R and R where are you out of, saw a guy post your number in a previous thread with a 717 area code, trying to find someone local for a JD 70 build... I like the idea of going and seeing the person before giving them money... just my thoughts is all.

Keep in mind that when you do a billet crank, you can use better material than the factory forged crank. Also, you don't have the stress of the welding in there.

Also, the 730 crankpin is hollow, so another good reason to start from scratch.
 
Cryo freezing changes the grain structure, not the inherent stresses and imperfections of welding. For people that do it, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. The two heat treaters that I deal with said it would not make a significant improvement on a welded crank.
