730 injector pumps

Anyone know if the 730 pumps will work in a 70 as just a bolt in install, or are other parts needing to be changed?

Are you updating the injector tips?
That's a lot of pressure forcing fuel through 5X10thou holes intended for use with 10mm pumps. Vs. 6X 10 thou or 6X 12 thou tips intended for use with the 13mm pumps.

I may be mistaken, but I thought that only black dash 820s and 830s came with the big pumps. R, early 820 and all the 7 series (70, 720, 730) had 10mm pumps. I don't know for certain, but since the power rating and fuel economy didn't change, I would assume that a 730 has the same pumps as a 720 which would be 10mm. Again, I may be mistaken, however, if they are 10mm then they are a direct replacement.

720/730 had better fuel efficiency and more power than the 70.
Very late 70 and 720/730 used larger dia intake valves.
R,70,80 and green dash 820 used 10mm pumps. Black dash 820,830,840 and all 720730 used 13mm pumps.

I have a 730 head and injectors I'll be using. Just wondered if the 730 pumps would function with the 70 rack system.

Yes the 13mm pumps will work in the 70. You will have to mount the 13mm pumps to the 70 bridge and not use a late 720/30 bridge that has the fuel return. If you use the late bridge with a return fitting out the injection pump cover you will not be able to bleed your 70 and it wont start.
You might also want to send the pumps out to get calibrated.

So if the 730 has the same pumps as the 830, I would assume that the 730 would have a much lower factory rack setting with a engine that is 100 cubes smaller?

Thought that the same thing too, until I bought a 720D. Mine is a green dash and had 13mm pumps in it. Says in the service manual that the calibration of the pumps is different than the 70 because they used 10mm.
Not sure of the stock rack setting on the 820/30's. The 720/30's have smaller holes in the injector tips.
720/30 6 holes/.010 140 degree angle
820/30 6 holes/.012 160 degree angle
