Able to purchase 730D standard with broken flywheel. Any associated damage such as crankshaft,I should be looking for when looking at this tractor. Its been parked for a number of years and could be seized and clutch disks are froze. I will run pop motor upon inspection. I understand there are two types of Flywheels (standard and taper lock type ). Which is best and where and how much can I expext to have to pay? The guy wants $2000 for it.

HI Andy
Will if crankshaft is bad thay are going for about 1500 for one and the flywheel for the it may as that high to . I would pay maybe $500for it

That tractor had better be pretty nice in all other respects for that money and sitting indoors. You will have ten Gs in it in no time.

Price is way too high unless he is including a new flywheel and going to buy the crank if it is bad.
Unless you just have an affection for the Standard, I would wait to find a Row Crop. They have many more options for accessories.
You can find a good running 730D pony RC for around $5K-$7K. That is much less than you are going to have in the one he wants $2K for.
As long as the sheet metal is good, painting is one of the easier things to do. It is the major mechanical stuff that eats up your wallet in a hurry. You have no idea what else is "broken" when you cannot hear them run before purchase.

Rowcrop 720/730 diesels go cheap compaired to the semi rare and better looking standard. You could loot one of those rowcrops for parts.
As previous posters have said. The tractor in current condition is only worth the price of scrap iron and the price of the fuel in the tank.
