730d rod knock

Kaleb was mowing with his 1960 730Dand the fuel filters plugged up due to someone putting dirt in the tank.It was running poorly and he hit the decompresion levr and killed it.We put new fuel filters on it and bled the systym and started the tractor. It has a taper lock flywheel on it installed by someone else. The end play is excessive. Now here is the problem,it sounds like a rod knock on left side and the engine wont idle and at high idle it sounds like it is under load. Both exhaust ports appear to be close to the same temp. The oil presure is between the M and H and there does not appear to be any bearing material on dipstick.Any ideals? thank you.
Ps as you can imagine my son son is heartbroken to know that one of his friends put the dirt in his tank.

I'd start by kicking the kids A$$ that put the dirt in the tank. Maybe the kids parents would like to open there wallet for ya, it won't be cheap, even if you can do alot of the work yourself.

The filters should have stopped any dirt from causing harm,if it actually was dirt.Sounds like the flywheel might have slipped or be loose. It can look tight and still be moving on the crank
and make an awful noise.

I have a taper-loc on mine and it worked loose and knocked like crazy. I had to get a new hub and reinstall it. The second time I tightened it by the instructions. No more knock. Just because it is a taper loc doesn't mean it hasn't loosened up.

When you mean it won't idle, do you mean it will not slow down or will not run at idle? Can the metal in the oil filter be picked up by a magnet? It sounds like a governor weight let go and was shredded in the timing gears.
Feel free to email me.
