77 trans. input seal

Do you have to remove the belt pulley assembly to replace the trans. input oil seal or will it just pull out? I have the motor out and thought I would replace the leaking seal. Thanks , TC

I am sure the seal is replaced from the rear. You will need to remove the pulley unit. I would check the play on the counter shaft at this time and remove shims as needed.

Thanks for the reply. I took the pulley assembly of this afternoon . If I wasn't trying to keep the 77 original I would have probably have left the assembly off. Taking it off to replace a seal isn't fun. Thanks again, TC

remember that there is an O ring under the sleeve that the inbut shaft seal rides on that should be replaced also. they get old and hard from heat, my 2 cents worth.
