770 diesel sleeve cracking

I have a neighbor with a 770 diesel that he took to a local shop for an overhaul. After running for three minutes after rebuild it started blowing water out the radiator, and was found to have cracked a sleeve. This has now happened three times (same cylinder).Sleeve protrusion was checked. Any ideas?

Assuming it"s cracking around the flange on top, (most common) it usually from using a head gasket with too small of a bore. The head gasket bore needs to be at least 1/4" bigger than the cylinder bore.

It cracked in 3 minutes? Wow. Tell us where the liner is cracking.

block is not true around sleeve carbon build up rust etc not letting sleave fit right our bad block sleave should fall in loose with no orings clean it up more

Not sure of the details, I just talked to the neighbor not the shop. When he had problems he wanted me to work on it,now I'm glad I didn't.

Are they using AGCO parts or elcheapo chinese? If the parts are not the problem, most likely the counterbores are not square. I just went through all of that with a D17 Allis. I had to get a better block. My original had rust issues. There are 2 directions to go. One is have the counterbore areas resleeved or find a better block. That counter bore is critical. If it's not right, it will never hold a head gasket for any length of time.
