Hey guys i just bought my first oliver! it's a real nice 770 gas wfe, my question is the guy said the power boost doesn't work and hasn't for a long time. does this work like an IH tourque amplifier? is it worth messing with or should I just leave it alone for now? I'm gonna use this for mostly raking and tedding. I would appreciate any of you thoughts! Thanks!

Can you tell me in a nutshell how the powerboost works? do you think its worth monkeying with? I assume the tractor would need to be split? Thanks!

The next issure of the HPOCA magazine will have an article on the 770 tractors plus some of the changes made to the power booster. An over center clutch is used to engage direct drive. Underdrive (speed reduction) is acomplished through a countershaft with the aid of a sprag clutch. No you do not split the tractor to work on it. You lift the engine out. Does the power booster work in direct drive or in low range? Direct drive clutch is adjustable, sprag clutch is not. The nut shell version of a power booster. Are you where it is hilly? It will free whell in low range. Your turn.
