I am looking at a 7710 2WD with cab. I would say it's early
80's by the blue and white decal. 1500 hours and in really nice
shape. I am just looking for opinions on this tractor for light
planting and snow removal with a front plow.

One of the better Fords built, probably the best blue flat deck to be had. Hard to believe one has that few hours. Verify the hours by the condition of the hitch, drawbar, pedals, etc. Don't rely on the proofmeter alone.

One of the very best tractors Ford ever built. Shame it's only half a tractor (2WD) but you should still get a lot of use from it. It's probably for 1500 hours on the second round by now. There is no way I would believe those are legit hours. Mine is an 85, has seen fairly moderate usage in terms of hours and still it's over 8500 hours. My neighbor has one with 1500 on the meter... and that hasn't turned since about 1987.
My biggest concerns would be that the hydraulics seem tight and kick the lever detents at idle and the dual power shifts crisply. Also make sure the engine starts quickly... and doesn't blow too much black smoke under load. If it's been turned up too far I'd be a bit skeptical about it.... but they're generally good for 100-110 without a meltdown. Most of them were turned up too...

To me, that seems like way too much tractor for, "light planting and snow removal." If it is like my 5600 that has a 256ci engine, light work will make it wet stack. I know, I know the 7710 has is a 4.4L and the 5600 is 4.2L, but a 97hp tractor seems incorrectly matched to the tasks of light planting and snow removal. That thing was designed and built to work.

I'd love to have one pulling a 20ft batwing.

I'm curious, what is the asking price?

Best snowplowing rig I ever owned was a Deere 4030 with a turbo (105 PTO HP), front mount Meyers 9' commercial power angle plow and a 9' rear blade. 'Light planting' could mean a lot of things, many that a 7710 would be well suited for.

I guess you're not moving much snow.... around here a 7710 is a fair match for a 8' blower and that will work the snot out of it. A 9' plow will also be plenty for a 2WD 7710 to handle and it'll need a damn good set of ice chain at that if it's pushing any amount of snow.

You guys are changing the question. The original question did not say a 9' Meyer's commercial power angle plow nor did it mention an 8' blower, gee whiz. He didn't ask what YOU had done in the past.

And light planting is, light planting. I was doing what the poster asked, giving my opinion of that tractor performing that work, "light planting and snow removal". You guys are adding your own variable into HIS question

Good grief.

Curious, you are doing the exact same thing without specifics. Plus throwing rocks.

Open your mind a little. Not all perceptions are the same. Guys in the 'I' states do light planting/replants with 6 and 8 row planters.

Maybe it's overkill, maybe not. If the OP had been more specific, we could offer more help.

In the meantime, take a breath.

Well... anyone wanting to plow snow with a 7710 better have a 9' front plow unless they want to be driving on the ridge all the time. Likewise, a blower needs to be in the vicinity of 8' to cover the wheeltrack. No idea what the planter would be... but there's lots of stuff out there today that can easily more than challenge that tractor.
