Pull the breather loose from the housing the mag bolts to. If there is a gear cut on the shaft, you just need a distibuter, if there is no gear then you need a shaft with the gear cut on it. If you are building a puller you can get the proper delco or you can use an MSD distributor for a chevy 292 straight six.
 
All of the engines I have had have had a distributor. But I always wondered if the delco distributor off of an oliver 70 tractor would bolt right on???
