What are the oils used for diesel engine, hydraulics, differential, transmission and brakes?

We use strait 30w in the engine and hy-tran in rear end everything other rhen engine comes out of the rear end oil.

Is the 30 wt a special diesel oil? Also what can you check or see or listen for to get some idea of the condition of the engine. What is a good idling oil pressure?
