806 international

I am looking at an 806 international with a 320 loader for $6,000. What is your experience with this tractor? is there anything that I should be looking for or looking out for?

I will be baling and handleing round bales and I will be using the loader for some light dirt work as well. I will also be hooking it up to a 7 ft snow blower in the winter.

thanks in advance.

Friend of mine has to spread liquid manure on a hilltop in winter- road is steep, gets pretty dicey. He did it for years with an Oliver 1750- but became tired of engine rebuilds. Now has an 806, says he wishes he'd had it from the start. Enough soup to pull the load up the hill, enough weight to keep the big spreader from pushing him around on the way back down. And the drive train lasts FOREVER.

There a good strong engine ,,way better than a JD if you pull them heavy but i really prefer my old JDs for light work and loader because of there sincrow range trans and turn better,,,,I also own a 1066 with a Leon loader but use it rarely because i can just get around better with my 4010s,,,,,,,mainly tho if you can find that old of a tractor in good condition you buy it regardless of the color.

My 806 has problems shifting. Wants to grind when going into various gears (acts kinda like the clutch is bad). I'm told this is a common problem in their shift linkage. Fairly easy to fix I'm told (have it on the schedule to have it looked at this winter).
Might be something to consider/check out.

I have 3 806. In my opinion, the best tractor of that size built EVER period. People that bash them have never owned one.

It will handle all those chores easily. Is it a gas or a diesel. I've had mine for years and no problems at all. It was my do everything tractor at first, loader, baling, mower, feeding but mostly using it for mowing the last few years and some feeding. It has been running a 9 foot disc swather and pulling it in high 2nd in good hay. I put a turbo on it a while back because I thought I wanted to go faster mower but that is too fast, sure does sound different. The 806 is my favorite tractor to run, bar none.

I've had my 806 gas about 18 years. Have been very happy with it. Good loader tractor. Always starts. Have had no trouble with my TA but understand that can be expensive. Check out the TA. If no problems , $6000 is a reasonable price if it is in reasonably good condition.

That's what I've been told, have a local mechanic that is going to do it for me (as soon as I save up enough, says it should be about $400, mostly labot take about half a day)
