806 Roosamaster

nozzles are the same. high pressure lines have to change, and the pump drive parts. control linkage, and fuel supply hoses.

IH used to offer a kit with all the parts, I guess now it means a trip to the salvage yard. I have no idea of cost.

Why change though? unless the RD pump is toast... if that's the case I'd be interested in the fuel lines.

Really wasn't wanting to do anything. The RD starting leaking and pump people don't seem to think they can get parts to do a rebuild of it.

The one that's on it has lasted about 55 years so if it was reconditioned it would be fine with me. Never had a problem with the way it runs. It's just the leaking.

my suggestion is to fix the leaks. i've also heard the parts are scarce for the RD pumps as are people that can work on them. Those pumps are pretty solid so I wouldn't be surprised if all it needs is some o-rings, seals and gaskets. I wouldn't think they would be as tough to find as some of the "hard" parts.

as for people to work on them, there is a place in Conestoga PA, Tractor Vet knows a place in western PA, and there surely must be others.

Thanks for the help. I'd rather just keep what I have and fix it.

We have a diesel outfit in Atlantic, Ia that does that type of work. I got a shutoff for my RD some time ago from them. But that was just a used part from some they had dismantled.

I may look for an exchange pump. Getting a Roosamaster is easier, but those run $750 with adapter, but no other parts to make the fit. I'm afraid that retro fit would take $1000 or more.

Still some checking to do.

Thanks again

Used to sell "RD" pump cores (If I could find "em not seized) to a rebuider in Minnesota that specialized in rebuilding them, but I"m not sure they are around anymore,as its been a good many years.Biggest concern-is your pump seized?? That seems to be the death knell for that "RD" pump.Maybe some of the guys could provide more information on that company-I found them in Red Power Magazine.

No this one isn't seized gimpy. Tractor runs fine. The pressure is a little low after it gets warmed up. Goes from 60# down to 30#, but still runs fine, even at full throttle.

It just leaks a lot. That has gotten worse. There's something worn in the pump making it pressurize the bowl and forcing fuel past the throttle shaft 0 rings and a few other places as it got worse.
