I have a 1984 Allis chalmers 8070, I want to convert the 1000 pto to 540. From what looks like not just a clip to pull out shaft turn it around. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Due to its power the 8070 was never offered with a 540 PTO. For a given power the 540 shaft is transmitting nearly twice the torque as the 1000 which limits its capability. The easiest way to accomplish what you're after is getting a shaft adapter then run the engine at half speed but a person has to be very careful doing that.
