Love my 830. So it gets a little tlc. Was burning about qt. per hour of oil on the disc last spring, No I'm not kidding. But it ran good and my son can run it with the com. So off comes the heads one head over #3 hole is pited bad, there are carbon deposits in the combustion chambers but there was supposed to be a new sleave and piston in one hole. Not!, it might have been new to this tractor but now new. I think this sleeve broke and they put a differnt sleeeve in and new rings. It seems to have new bearings, oil pump and balancer in it. The pump has yellow writing on it and the bearing look good with a 08 date code. There is alot of black slim in the block after the sleeeves came out. Must be from the bad sleeve? This is my first major overhaul. I'm learning alot. I want this tractor to look good and run excellent. Any tips would be helpful. Like how do you get the energy cells out? Will they break if I put the impact to them ? How to make it start better. I put two semi batteries in it that helped alot. 2 woreout car batteries from Fleet Farm won't do it. What can be done for more power? Mostly I need it to pull a 12' disc and finnish drag combo and a 3pt. 7 shank chisel plow. It did petty well before on those jobs dualed up. Last spring I broke a shaft on the disc and had to finish with an 18 mf disc. It will pull it not real fast but it did. I have considered propane. Lookes pretty simple to me and no rules against it at the pulls anymore. Thanks in advance Big Sal

I suggest you do a complete overhaul, don't try to patch it. put in new sleeves, pistons with rings, have the heads reworked and first and foremost, check the connecting rods for being out of round so you will not spin a new bearing and mess up a rod and the crank. It will be pricey, but it will make a difference and your oil usage will go away for the most part.

gas or diesel? Since you talk of 2 batteries I will assume diesel. Install an extra thick seat under the short valve to push the valve down into the cylinder farther to raise the compression. It will start better and run stronger. No short cuts. Do it right the first time.

Yea diesel sorry I didn 't say. Can't imagine feeding a gas for spring work, round bailing and chopping corn. I had a 830 gas when we did only 10acres of corn. That being said that tractor was what converted me to Case and com.So back to the 67 830 case c.o.m. Comfort King.with wide front 18.4x34 with duals.Did I leave anything out? The crank is in spec. The heads are in town getting love. I need more info on this short valve. Ya mean the intake? how do you get a deeper seat? And won't that screw up the valve geometry? Big Sal
