I got my new to me 830 COM home yesterday. 1000 miles in 21 hours. Anyway, it needs pto work. Its a 67 model, I have an IT manual, and I think all the discs to go back in. My problem is I'm a little slow on the up take of information. Reading a western novel, I can tell you word for word what it says and what they are talking about, but technical stuff.... NOT going to understand a thing of it. Can someone walk me through getting it to the point of replacing the clutch? PLEASE.
Thanks

NO NEED TO PULLL PARTS YET!... you mite just need to adjust the clutch . .You Can search the ARCHIVES on this site ,type in case 830 pto clutch ,. That will allow you to view feedback over some 10 yrs at your leisure ,, the 400.700,800,730,830 Share the same style pto clutch

Given the previous owner of said 830 smoked the clutch using a feed grinder (literally, smoke rolled), would all three types of plates been heated to the point of ruin? Pto spins freely with no associated noises.

The pto was unable to run anything under load after the "smoke letting".
