I was looking at a 830 that arrived at a dealer in town. It says model 831 on tag serial #8343353.Can anybody tell me what year. Its a comfort king diesel with near perfect tin . they say everything works great haven't tried yet. it has a H and L on left side near shifter. Is it a COM ? I am no to familiar w this model any help would be appreciated.

hi and low range , can you post pix ??,, never saw a real one in the cold hard steel ,,. but I think a c-o-m ck would have 2 levers in that location , one for c-o-m lokup ,, the other for hi low , ,,personally I prefer the the lokup lever on the sterring whell like the 800

Defiantly not a case-o-matic. I grew up with a 730, 830, and 1030 with the 'double hand shaker' as some called them. Very good transmissions. Grandpa did have an 800 case-o-matic, but it was before my time.

The com would have 2 levers beside the steering wheel. If it's not you will see the knockout for the com lever right beside the H-s-L lever.

jon f mn,sorry was cornfused but you said "2 levers beside steering wheel" dont mean to correct you but did you mean under the wheel like on the floor? i ask only because im kinda new to owning a case and I have an 831c 1964. the only lever on the colum is the hand throttle.
