861 Steering

Went to clear the snow last night and noticed that all of the sudden I am unable to turn left. I have power steering with the res mounted to a bracket that sits atop the valve cover. At any rate, I've never had a problem with the steering before. I can turn right with no problem but when I bring the wheel back to the left the tires will go basically to straight with basically zero degrees turn to the left. Res is full, no leaks noticed. Greased tie rods etc in the fall. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

jack the front axle up so there is no weight on anything.. will she steer left now?

will the steering gearbox actually turn left or does it lock up?

post back.. could be a couple issues going on depending on if the box locks, or instead it's fine with no weight on it.

Thanks soundguy. Just heading out of town for Christmas but will check when I get back in a few days and let you know. Merry Christmas!!!

If the linkage is all connected, you could have broken the rod on one of the hydraulic cylinders or blown out the packing. Could even have gotten water in the cylinder that froze. You would have to disconnect the cylinders and make sure that each is working correctly.

Thanks John,

Do you mean to disconnect the cylinders and run them to see if they will operate when not under a load?
