88 engine build up???

Was wondering what kind of pistions to use to build a very healthy 88 moter? ( what to put atlest 5 to 5.5 stroke ) and what kind of rod'd do I use? Sorry I"M new to this shade of Green! THANK'S FOR ANY HELP!!

I ques all oliver motor's are ( TOP SECRET ) SEEM'S the people that own or build them are the only one's that are afraied that all of there secret's will get out and are conseded enough not to be willing to help or anser a question for someone else ???

Lots of variables to your question. What rpm? Can you run a deck plate?

People that have built there own engines know it takes hours of research to get a piston/rod combo that will work for there application. So when some comes on here asking a question like this they aren"t wild about giving up there secrets and you can"t blame them.

I will tell you that I"m building a 310 12 port engine that will be 404 cu. in. It consists of a crank stroked to 4 3/4in., a 4 1/4 bore, 383 chrysler pistons, and 7.1 in. eagle rods. It won"t be the most extreme oliver out there but hopefully it will last.

Good luck,
Ray

You could go stock bore to 4.5". So we need more info. I'm building a 310 12 port motor to 498 CID using custom rods and keith black drag piston. so you can see there is a lot of ways to go you may try doing a search.

The best combo for an 88 block has to be a 426. Sleeve the block to 4.25, use 427 Chevy pistons and 77 oliver rods. You will need to have the crank stroked 1" and ground to a 2" rod journal to accept the 77 oliver rods. Although a little more infor on what you are exactly wanting to do and what engine you are using would be very helpful.

So are you a woman or a child cause the gang green olivers only pull in the powder puff classes? Remember (you just cant fix stupid) "extrempuller"

Wont to use an 88 motor,1100 massy head, there a little easear to come up with around here. RPM's are not really an issue around here ( They only cry about it at one place in TN ) Doesn't matter about deck plate, if you can get moore HP, but would like to turn atlest 3000-4000 RPM's. A friend has one around 427 or 428 CID Will find out sone how it does but I'm looking for sugestions on how big but won't something that will moore than get the job done but will stay together.

Sorry to afend you let me bowe down before the great ( KIFFEN ) Who ever you are! You let on like these were the greatest tractor ever built so what the HE!! I gues I'll build one and find out. One thing I can't figure out was you were willing to brag on other's OLIVER's but never talked for once about your's? So what is it, all those big word's get you to feiling like your a little moor than what you are, or are you just a want a be ? Haven't seen many of you all do a whole lot with that JOKER tractor, wouldn't matter if you make him turn it down You'll stell be right were you are! But just remember it's (all for fun right? ) But please keep trying to beet him though summer would be boreing with out people like you complaining at every pull!! ( LONG LIVE THE GREAT KIFFEN ) who ever that is? (doesn't realy matter)

Its not that its top secret but every1 builds their motors to get the advantage and it takes alot of research to make it work what works for one may not work for another just my opinion.you need a very good understanding of how a engine works before you can build big and make it hold together and last.

Thanks! Need to get your facts right never said they were the greatest tractors, never bragged on other Olivers, never talked about mine cause I dont own one, dont even know the joker either, dont belong to ETATA so leave them out of it just pull with them. JUST STATING THE FACTS you were talking trash about Olivers now you beg for info on them talk about stupid. PS my blood runs RED

Again let me bouw dowe for the ( GREAT KIFFEN ?) first! So sorry must have mistaking you for the wrong ( puncture wound !) Don't worry not begin for help or ansers ( I thought that was what this web site was for? ) I can simple drop of an engine just like alot do and simple get a call when it's done. You were the one starting off bashing JD tractors and not me with the oliver's! And quote ( I BLEED RED ) WOW NEVER HERD THAT BEFORE? ( IDIOT!! ) If I were you I would have just lied and just said that I did own an OLIVER! I BLEED RED, NOW THAT'S ORIGINAL? ( GO RED POWER AND THE GREAT KIFFEN? )

WELL IF HE BUILDS A MOTOR LIKE HE SPELLS , THERES NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MUST BE FROM CLAIBORNE CO....

Claiborne Co-that's funny! And yes I like bashing JD's I'd soon to hear a fat hog fart than to listen to one putt. Also sounds like you have some issues with another puller (stop the name calling and talk it over with the puller) and if you think a club cries about RPM's then don't pull with them. There is a reason clubs have rules. One more time MY BLOOD RUNS RED!!! The Great Dr. Kiffin
