i took cover off my 88 and looked at the ring gear the numbers on the ring gear are D-3-743 00873L i counted 47 teeth. What is the gear ratio of these #s? Are they the slower gears or faster gears for row crops?

You should count the gear that I have in the pic. You will either have 12 teeth or 10 teeth. Odds are you will have 10 teeth. Lower the number the slower it is. The higher the number of teeth the faster it is. If it was a standard rear end it would more then likely have 12 teeth.

You should have a part number that is stamped in the edge of the gear.... I till start with a "K". The last Letter will indicate what set. I'm pretty sure these are correct, I don't have my parts book handy.

A- Fastest
B- Almost the fastest
C- Most common Row Crop
D- 9tooth (SLOWWWW)

very easy, count the crown gear teeth and the pinion teeth. divide the pinion into the crown and you have your gear ratio.
example: 12 into 47 = 3.91
10 into 47 = 4.7
the higher # is always the slower gears.

I counted the ring gear it was 47 and pinion 10. Are these the slowest for row crop? Would they be good for stock pulls 3-4mph probably use 2nd gear right?
