8n 12 volt battery

State of Charge Specific Gravity 12V 6V
100% 1.265 12.6 6.3
*75% 1.225 12.4 6.2
50% 1.190 12.2 6.1
25% 1.155 12.0 6.0
Discharged 1.120 11.9 6.0

*Sulfation of Batteries starts when specific gravity falls below 1.225 or voltage measures less than 12.4 for a 12v battery, or 6.2 for a 6 volt battery. Sulfation hardens on the battery plates reducing and eventually destroying the ability of the battery to generate Volts and Amps.

it's not my battery(12.45v).8n side mount 1950 will not crank after 1st or 2nd try(will start 1 out of 2 tries usually).starter checked ok today at shop.the battery dies and then clicks????????

Check for volts at your starter. One lead at the starter post the other on the block. Then hit starter bu++on and see what you git.

Ken......congratulations, you have proved you have a BAD BATTERY. You doubt? Take in for a "free" checkout under load. You have some DEAD CELLS. .....Dell

You might want to take a test light and ground it to the engine and put the business end on your positive battery post. Hit the starter. If the light goes out and it doesn't crank put the ground clip on your neg battery post. Hit the starter. If the light stays lit and it doesn't crank you've probably got a bad ground between the battery and engine block. With most starting problems I find more connection problems on grounds than the "hot" side.
