8N carburetor leaking

Had a friend clean and adjust my carburetor, but after he put it on it is leaking gas. I loosed the air intake and gas leaked from there. Seems the bowl is full and gas is leaking out of the throttle hole. Not sure why the leaking?

Andy........didja know yer N-Gastank is GRAVITY fed to yer carb and gravity never sleeps. ALWAYS turn yer under-the-tank glass valve OFF when thru tractoring.

As fer current problem, didja know that yer carb has a float operated shut-off valve??? And when the carb bowl gitts full the float pushes the needle valve up against the seat and stops the gas. And when yer tractor uses gasoline the float drops and the gravity feed fills yer carb. Isn't that amazing???

And YES, yer FLOODED carb drains out the MOUTH of the carb when you take the slanted airfilter pipe off. There is also a small drain in the mouth of the carb so you don't haffta remove the airfilter pipe.

Tell yer friend he did a LOUSY job rebuilding yer carb (float drop 1/4") and iff'n yer incompetent to re-do the job, bend yer friends ear. ......respectfully, Dell

Try tapping on the side of the carb bowl with the handle end of a screwdriver to see if that will seat the needle valve. If that works your good to go and as Dell seys, turn off the gas when not in use. If tapping doesn't solve the problem, you or your friend will have to remove the carb and adress the needle seat and valve issue.

did he replace the needle and seat? or just clean the carb? if he took the carb apart and bent the float it will stick in the bowl. if he replaced the needle and not the seat then you no longer have a matched needle and seat. i would take apart get a kit and follow step by step rebuild instructions. kit about 35 bucks for good one--new float 6-7 dollars from what I remember...or new carb 130-200 dollars---ballpark estimate..I can still hear my grandpa saying fix it right the first time.
