Let me start my saying it"s a 49 8n and still on the 6v system. It"s right pretty for a yard decoration but the garden is crying.
Well a few weeks ago I asked for help trying to find out how to check a coil as I couldn"t get fire. After a few hours beating my head I discovered the tab on the rotor button was bent down and not making contact on the dist. cap. What and easy fix!
Now I"ve got another problem. It won"t start. Got fire, gas to carb and the carb is clean(pulled it apart twice) and it"s set like the book says. This thing will only crank til the battery gives up. Tried starting fluid and gas in the plug holes. NOTHING! Doing plug checks before putting gas on them and they are dry. All I can guess, and thats all I know to do, is the compression is too low. The check showed it"s between 60 and 70 on all 4.
Any thoughts are more than appreciated as I"m ready to give up and call it scrap. Thanks in advance for everyone who puts time in this site helping those of us who just can"t seem to help ourselves.
