I got this 1950 8n (*8n336062*) *=star from a friend of mine whos father died years ago. The old man restored tractors as a hobby. The tractor sat outside for years and did not have a manifold on it so moisture got in the engine and corroded it up and it would not turn over. I tried ATF and disel as suggested by Soundguy with no success. I removed the engine and tore it appart and got all the parts freed up. The sleeves are .090 and are in excellent shape. This is not consistent with the star in the serial no. Also, the valve tapplets are adjustable which I don't think come standard on my tractor. I think the old man rebuilt the engine before he died and did a valve job. My thoughts are to replace the pistons and rings, rod and crank bearings and go back togeather with the engine. Any opinions will be appreciated.
