8N Hydraulic HELP

I have read through a bunch of the postings but I have probably a weird question. I just purchased my first 1949 8N tractor. All seems great however when I lift the 3 point (with Woods mower deck attached) it raises it up like 3 feet in the air. I am wondering is there a way to limit how far UP it lifts? I just want to be able to lift a foot or so.

When I use the position lever it seems to either slowly go down or slowly go up but not maintain a constant height. I am going to use the chains to set down height but I would rather be able to also set a up height of 12 or so inches from the ground.

Am I crazy?

Under the seat on the right side should be a little lever.
That lever should be turned straight up, not horizontal.
If all is working as it should, you will have position control
and no need for chains to maintain height.

Is the larger arm supposed to have any play in it? It seems
like it takes an inch or two of movement up or down before
any movement happens on the hitch. Will that tighten up with
the small lever moved?

Joe.......surprizingly enuff, the 3-point lift ain't precision resetable. There is a little known part called the cam-rollpin. it wears 'cuz it ain't lubricated. To fixxitt, you haffta remove yer top cover. ZANE sells a "kit" to fix the liftpin (5/16 dia)

Remember, the "flush" handle is up for position (mowing) and horizontal for draught (plowing) Draught is always sloppy on yer hippy hy-trol lever.

Iff'n you want precision mowing height control, use control chains from yer 3-point lift pin to yer mower lower 3-point pins. You can raise yer mower to clear obsticals and will always return to the same mowing height. (limited by the chain lengths) Simple, eh? .......Dell, the tite chains

My lift control only has a small portion of the quadrant that is usable.
I'm thinking the cam pin is worn so bad it causes this.
Only the top 1/4 of the quadrant works to control the lift.
Push it further than 1/4 down and the lift goes all the way down.
But within that 1/4 movement I have complete position control.

With the draft/position lever horizontal, the quadrant lever
does nothing on mine. So I'm thinking the cam pin is worn real bad.
