8N misfire under load...

I dont get it. Started the 8N this afternoon to do some brush hogging in the pasture. Fired up just fine and off I went....going great through the grass and up and down hill....gradually started to misfire under load until eventually would not go up hill without misfiring to the point of stopping.
Removed plugs, cleaned and replaced and it started fine, however once again under load it misfires, black smoke and just will not run right.

Could some crud have gotten into the carb? Any suggestions as to what the cause might be.

Much as I love this old tractor I am getting to the point where I might end up getting something newer - I just dont have the time to fiddle with it any more.

New tractors break down eventually, then you'll be fixing something more complicated.---lha

Hey those new ones are not all they are cracked up to be.I work on them for a living. They are not as simple and waaaaay more expensive on parts. You can figure it out.Think about how long these ole things have been goin.If you can get it to start that's half your battle won.Hang in there. Jay
