I have a 8N that idles fine but when put under a load dogs out. Points, condenser and plugs have been changed. Any thoughts?

One possibility is that your carb. is not getting enough gas. Could be one of the filters partialy blocked, float not adjusted right,etc.---lha

I would say to go back and look at the plug wires and make sure they are in the right order.... 1 2 4 3 CCW on the Dist.... these motors are so good they will run on 2 Cylinders and have no power under load... this would be for the front mount dist... HTH

Fred......have you checked yer governator??? While standing on the ground next to yer carb, grab the throttle rod between the carb and the governor and try to "jazz" yer engine. Does the governor fight you??? That is most likely yer problem. There are other causes but you don't give me enuff clues and I flunked mind reading just ask my ex-wife of 32yrs ......Dell, the mindless

When you ask a question here, it’s usually a good idea to tell us:

1. The model of your tractor (2N, 9N, 8N, NAA, etc).

2. If it is 6v or 12v.

3. If it’s an N, if the distributor is on the front or side of the engine.

4. If it has any major parts that are not OEM, such as electronic ignition, a side coil on a front distributor, etc.

Troubleshooting is different depending on the model of the tractor, voltage, ignition system & distributor placement.

And, even if you told us that last week, remember that you’re dealing w/ a bunch of guys w/ CRS.

All we know is that you have an 8N. That's not much to go on.

It could be your governor, your wires, incorrect point gap or other things, but rather than have us guess, give us some more info & you will get more precise answers.

Had a very similar problem once on my 8N. I had forgot to reattach one of the spark plug wires after some testing. Just my thought.

double check fire order 1-2-4-3.. if that is good, and the gov test passes that dell gave you.. check to make sure the carb main jet is not too lean.
