8n only starts....

I need some ideas on what to do about why my 8n will
only start when I pull it with another tractor. The
starter seems to turn over the motor ok. It is still
6 volts. I just had new sleeves and rings installed
in the motor. After I pull start it it runs fine.
Any ideas? thanks!

High compression and weak starter or weak battery or bad grounds or weak cables? I just rebuilt a 9N, starts on right up even tho a very tight engine.

Try bypassings iginition switch next time you use the starter.

if just rebuilt, might be too tight for a bad starter or battery.. or bad grounds, etc.

for the heck of it, chec spar.

if sark is low under starter load, try jumping starter with car battery and leaving tractor battery for ignition.. if that works, investigate connections , and wire harness, andgrunds, cable clamps, and battery.. etc

Is this a new rebuild of so i built one last week and had to pull it the first time. After running it about an hr or so it was fine. However i bout a 50 8N yesterday and it had been burnt. I stripped it all down and ran the minimum wires which was a coil wire to the battery and used my temporary gas can i have made to crank them and checkem out with. When i touched the battery cable to the starter post the engine turned really fast. Which was a great indication there was no compression. I put a small amount of oil in the cylinders turned her over and got it back up and she fired right off
