witch way do i face the pistons in motor new ones a noch on the of one side

can not go forward its on the side if the rist pins

really doesn't matter since it's a flathead and the valves aren't over the piston. just put them all the same way if you wish. over head valve engine are more perticular about piston alignment.

That's odd, usually pistons have the mark or notch facing towards the front of the motor.

piston pins are made off center. they must be installed right,,,

Check to see if the pin is off center. If it is, install so it is offset to the thrust side.
