It was time to relplace the plugs in my 52 8N and give it a fresh tuneup.
I went to Oreilly's Auto parts to get the Autolite AL437 sparkplugs, but the clerk said his book doesn't show that as an 8N plug, and he had none in stock, even through I had the AL437 that I just pulled out to have in my hand.
All he showed in his tractor book was Autolite 216.
Not to argue, and wanting to get started tomorrow, New Year's Day, I took them.

Any thoughts on the 216?

The 216 is a colder plug which means it will work ok if you work your tractor pretty hard most of the time. In cold weather I doubt that pushing snow would work it hard enough long enough. I have had a set of H 10 champions in my tractor for several years. It got a couple of weeks ago to where it would run on 2 cylinders until it warmed up some then it hit on all 4. Two days ago I put in a new set of 437 plugs. It starts a lot better and runs great. I think you will get along with the colder 216, but I think you will be much happier and get longer service from the 437 plug. If your tractor uses any oil, does a lot of light work, etc. I would get the 437.

I run 216's for Years,Till I found out about the 437 HOTTER Plug.My engine runs Better on 437's but 216's will last awhile.
The 437 are the better Plug.

I have run the Autolite 437 and 216, and the AC Delco C45L spark plugs with no problems. I put Champions in it once, and never again. I gapped the Champions and put them in, and it ran worse than it did with the old plugs. Champions run the best in Chrysler products.

Put them in and run the tractor!!!!

They may/could be worse to foul.

The 437s are hotter, and will do better at burning the contaminates off of them.

Like Dell says...

"simple, eh?"

Anyone know what the 437 spark plug goes in a car or truck.
Oreilly's must have a problem matching plugs with plugs, you must give truck or car model and year before they can look it up in their computer.

I remember how easy it was to take in a fanbelt and the parts store would simply measure it and go get a new one.

Now they can't think for themselves, they don't have to remember anything, just the computer keyboard

Cannot get much easier?

Thanks for the link. I tried using the AL437 like it said on the box without sucess.

I guess the guy at Oreilly's didn't know how to do it either.

Thanks
