8n Shifter

I am restoring a 8n shifter. I was taking the knob off and it twisted off. Should I just cut some more threads on the shifter shaft or weld a piece of threaded rod on the broken end? It never fails, if Im gonna do something it cannot be easy, life goes on........

Look carefully & see if the 1" sleeve that goes into the knob isn't on the end of your gear shift.

same thing happened to me but it was just the threaded insert from the shifter knob used channel locks to get it off

"Real" 8N's have one-piece shifters with a "never wears out or breaks" steel knob.

Up until Feb 1950 the shifter was one piece; for some reason, Henry added the screw on knob. That had to cost him more money......
