I am restoring a 8n shifter. I was taking the knob off and it twisted off. Should I just cut some more threads on the shifter shaft or weld a piece of threaded rod on the broken end? It never fails, if Im gonna do something it cannot be easy, life goes on........

"Real" 8N's have one-piece shifters with a "never wears out or breaks" steel knob.

(quoted from post at 22:45:28 06/07/10) same thing happened to me but it was just the threaded insert from the shifter knob used channel locks to get it off
