6 volt solenoid just clicking. Question: which jumper cable from 12 volt car do I touch to the starter bolt, red or black? This neg pos thing on the
tractor confuses me. So IF I touch red to starter bolt then should I attach black to tractor frame? Won't that spark like he'll? Mixing negs and
pos'?

Thanks

mtt........surprizingly enuff, yer 6-volt starter motor don't care, positive (+) or negative (-) ground it will always turn the correct direction. And even more amazing, 12-volts on solenoid just makers click harder and don't hurt 'nuttin' either. Remember, ignition ON; 1/3 throttle, 2-rumpa-rumps BEFORE you pull yer spring loaded choke knoby. Should start right off. Iff'n it don't, you've FLOODED yer sparkies. Replace yer FLOODED sparkies and save'm fer the NEXT time (and there will be a NEXT time) We recommend AutoLite 437's gapped 0.025. .......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

BTW.........GROUND kenn be positive (+) and negative (-) at the same time So the answer to yer question, GROUND which ever jumper clamp to tractor I-beam rod. and just TOUCH the other jumper clipie to the starter motor bolt. Simple, eh?

See tip # 43 at the link.

As Dell said, it doesn't matter which cable, red or black, that you connect to the starter, but as Teddy said, it does matter which is connected first.

remember to have fuel on, your tractor key on, and in neutral, maybee even have clutch blocked, before you do any jumpering.

and don't hit the big thumb switch.
