Was here about a month ago - got some good advice on 8N"s, no purchases yet - back with a different question. Looking for a "utility vehicle" for plowing snow/grading gravel on a ~300" driveway, pulling in docks, light landscaping jobs. Started looking at 8N"s as a possibility. Decided one with just a back blade would fit the bill. See them in the Mn area for ~$2k - ~$3.5k. Neighbor at the lake has an ATV with a plow - says i should go that route. Uses his around the cabin for many different jobs. He plows a 1000 road with his. I"m not interested in riding trails...just something for gettin" stuff done around the cabin. Any thoughts i should consider on which way to go ?

Stay with the 8n ideas . Once you have an 8n , you'll find other projects around the home that makes it well worth having . Maybe an ATV can plow snow , but can it turn sod for gardens or deer plots ? Get a nice 8n first , then see how much fun they can be in the woods too . God bless

I live in Minnesota, in exactly your situation.
I have the Cabin up north and a nice ATV. But,
when it comes to pulling in docks, dragging heavy boats around, leveling a dirt pile and many
other chores that require some heavy workloads, my '53 Golden Jubilee is invaluable. I was lucky,
in that I bought my 8N at an auction for $2100 in Alex., and it came with a nice front end loader. Keep your eyes open, there's some good deals to be had. I'm going to get the 3 point blade at some point and I'd like a 3 point post hole digger, but I can wait until the price is right. I put a clutch in the tractor this fall, and I really dreaded pulling out all the lake toys with the ATV if the tractor wasn't working.
With the tractor, it was me and the wife. With the ATV, it would be me, the wife, the kids....
Get the tractor.

Dave, I have a 9N with a blade and also a 4X4 ATV with a snow blade. The ATV works OK until you really get dumped on or some drifting. Than the N comes out. Also real hard to "pile" snow with the ATV.

The ATV will empty your pocket book a lot quicker than an N will. The N will empty your driveway a lot quicker than an ATV will.

There's an 8N with a tube Wagner FEL, hydrualic up/down, for sale here in Long Prairie. It's at Long Prairie Machinery south on Hwy 71. I asked the guy about it last week. Said he's asking $2,900. A little steep IMO, but he's had it for more than a year, so I bet he'd negotiate.
