930 pre cleaner

Hi guys. I have a 930ck and was wondering if anything is supposed to go in the pre cleaner. Took cap off and just an empty bowl. Tractor is new to me so not sure.

No, when air is sucked in through the bowl cover spins it and it throws the dirt into the bowl. It continues down into the oil bath air cleaner.

It is like LJKCK said below, but if the tractor is new to you it might be a good idea to clean and refill the oil bath air cleaner, and make sure to check the tube between the precleaner, and the oil bath air cleaner. Fifty years of running in the dirt seems to have a way of slowly filling the tube in with crap and restricting the air flow.

Yes! the tube can get dirty.. Oil can splash up the tube and dirt can cling . I clean mine at least once a year. Now there can be several precleaners . Some 930's don't have the tube go out the hood. they just draw the air through the screens. some have a short ext. and some long. I'll show pictures of mine. This picture is of short ext with large bowl. (some have small bowls)When I got the tractor. Only one picture will come through so I'll try again

Even with a precleaner I clean the oil bath pan at every oil change and the precleaner every couple of days I use new oil like I put in the engine. Some like to use 20W non det. oil.

Ok. Mine has the shorter tube through the hood. I did notice a little build up in the pipe but not much. I have a few cracks in the bowl so I'll try to find a new one. I will also clean the whole tube and change the oil bath oil. Thanks!
