930CK & 1070 same Hyd. Problem. I'm stumped

Got a customer with both an 8sp 930CK and a 1070. Both have the same problem. Good pump pressure, and good pressure on 3 remotes, but both tractors have 1 weak remote. Interestingly, both have been on implements w/ 1 way cyl's. He rebuilt the Thermal Reliefs on both tractors, but did not help the pressure problem. From a previous experience, I steered him to the A57537 Seat, but he says they look good. I am stumped. Any ideas?

Did he check the check ball springs on the opposite side from the thermals? Did he get the small pistons in correctly? They will go in the wrong place and cause issues.

I have to trust he did things right. If he messed up the thermals, I think more than 1 outlet would be affected.

The thermal relief only effect one hose. If you have good pressure on 3 hoses and bad pressure on one then there is strong chance that the thermal is leaking. Stan

Hi, I am the customer with the tractors. Jon, yes I believe I have the pistons in correctly. The check ball springs you mentioned, are you referring to the ones under the remote hose adapter fittings on the left hand head? I have not had the left hand head off if that’s what you’re referring to? Thanks guys for the help!

Yes, had a broken spring there give me trouble one time. When the thermals go bad for me it has always been one side dropping when the lever is in neutral.

Ok, on the 930 I haven’t actually replaced the thermals yet, I removed the cap & found them to be intact & looking good so I didn’t go any further, just started asking questions. On the 1070 one of the thermals was completely broken up so I replaced them & put it back together however there was no change to the outlet that’s was causing the problem, it still won’t lift even the lightest Impliment, the other 3 outlets will lift anything.

Gave you done an actual pressure check?

Curious, what is the thermals?
There is a plastic check valve in the hydraulic valve that is designed to melt if the oil gets too hot to allow bypassing oil to prevent damage. I've had to replace them in my 1030. The usual cause is to leave the lever stuck in one direction whjle gooked to a cylinder so it bypasses the relief creating excessive heat in the valve.

The thermal relief valve is a safety feature. If a hydraulic cyl is extended to the end and is setting in the sun the oil will expand. The thermal release the pressure before damage is done to the cyl. The most common cause of a damaged thermal is driving down the road without using the safety latch on the implement. The implement will bounce and this will cause very high pressure in the system. The thermal will melt because of the heat.

I have never seen 1 melted. The Thermal Relief Valve Assembly consists of a Piston and Seat, O Ring, Spring and Ball. Excessive pressure on the circuit causes the spring loaded assembly to work against the spring and relieve some pressure. I have found the plastic pieces damaged, but never melted.
