9N FRONT HUBS

I HAVE PURCHASED A 1939 9N, IT HAS 5 LUG TRUCK HUBS AND TIRES ON THE FRONT. THIS IS THE SECOND TRACTOR THAT I HAVE BOUGHT WITH TRUCK TIRES ON THE FRONT, THE OTHER ONE DID AT LEAST HAVE 6 LUGS. BOTH OF THESE AT ONE TIME HAD A LOADER, IS THIS SOMETHING THAT THE DEALER WOULD DO, OR WAS IT THE OWNERS CHOICE? IF THIS WAS A DEALER OPTION I MAY NOT CHANGE THEM.

Certainly didn't come that way from the factory. Five bolt hubs are the real deal. Truck rims and tires were probably added when the loader was installed. I don't know when loaders became available for these tractors. Here's a picture of a couple of 39s with the original 19" rims.

Those definitely look like the original hubs and rims.

But that tractor on the left just looks funny Mr. Cooke.
No gray paint on the hood and all.
Should you decide you want to give it away, I'd be happy to come pick it up!

Always love seeing pictures of your hard work!

Mr. HCooke what part of Mo. are you located? I'm about 30 miles SSE of St. Louis also your tractors are fantastic looking. Mark Z

If you have a 9N with 6 lugs then it is the one that is modified with 8N wheels and hubs. A 16" 5 lug to replace the 19" wheels came out in about 1946 and boy what a difference they make without a loader working ground. And for truck tires somebody just thought they were a cheap way to go with probably takeoff from their own trucks. The 1944 2N was changed to the 5 lug 16" rim as soon as they became avaible because the tractor was used on plowed ground all the time. When I bought a 41 9N it was on the 19" and as soon as I could I got rid of them and it has 6:00x16" 3 rib, the 44 has 6:00x16 2 rib. I would not to use a tractor leave the 19" on. My 41 now has the hubs and rims from a 35-40 Ford car on.

MAC.........didja know using ALL CAPS is the equivalent of SHOUTING???

While yer 9N came from the factory with 4x19 wide hub 5-bolt spindles, many were later changed to the 8N narrow hub 6-bolt spindles so you could mount 6.00-16 truck tires to support yer FEL (front end loader)

The 4x19 narrow tires were for following the plow furrow and was kinda like "power-steering" ...BUT... they did NOT support the 500lb weight of the FEL. Many dealers made the change to 6.00x16 tires and rims when they sold a FEL to the farmer. FEL's shure beet idiot sticks of wheelbarrows. ........Dell

All 8n and NAA, possibly 6XX series, 7XX series, 8XX series, 9XX series and 4 cylinder 2000 and 4000

I have hubs and I may have a pair of 19" rims, but I'll have to check. Email is open if you're interested. Depending on where you are, shipping may be an issue.
