After recieveing great advice from you guys on no fire I have now got it running great, but now I have a new problem. I HAD a load of gravel that I spread and just as I was finishing my lift quit working.I found that I was way over full with the hydraulic oil so I drained it out this morning to the right level. Unfortunately I guess I may have messed up the pump.I can pickup the lift arms with out any resistance and let them go and they fall right back down.I would appreciate any suggestions as to what to look for first. Thanks.

ver fill may hurt your brakes, but not the pump. The lift links that your implements connect to, as well as the lift arms, are not rigidly attached to the lift piston, so are completely free to be raised by very little hand force. I.e., normal. PTO in gear?

Over filling the sump is not going to harm the pump - brakes maybe but pump no. Sounds like the control valve linkage on the pump may have come loose. It's a wishbone shaped Rube Goldberg arrangement - remove the inspection cover on the side of the rear center section and check to see if it is still attached to the "T" valve on the base of the pump. If it is disconnected put it back on by spreading the wishbone slightly and splipping it over the ends of the "T".

Do all of that with the tractor OFF.

Joe.......glad sumptin' is workin' fer ya.

You do know that you MUST have the PTO shifter behind yer left heel shifted before the internal hydraulic pump will pump, don't you?

And yes, you can manually lift yer 3-point ball arms (engine OFF) Remember, its power-up and gravity down.

Ennytime you have hydraulic issues, remove yer 6-in dipstick roundplate behind yer right heel and look fer squirts. Report back and we can guide you better .......Dell

OH!

I took the inspection cover off of the right side and the fork was off of the "T" valve and I put it back on thinking that it was the problem.I started the tractor and the lift went up immediately but when I tried to lower it nothing happened.I took the left cover off and the fork was off on the other side too so I put it back on.The lift will still not go down. When I move the touch control lever down from the top it is real loose until it gets to about three inches from the bottom of the slot then I see the fork move just a little.Could there be something loose on the top part of the fork mechanism?I appreciate your help.

Joe......about yer tuning fork, it hazzta be connected on both sides. Sounds like its "sprung". Won't hurt to tie the forks together on the "T"-valve points. Use BIG PLASTIC tie-wrap to squeeze-um. (bailin' warr works too) ......Dell

Your almost there. Sounds like the basic problem was the fork popping off. If you are sure it's back on properly and the linkage still doesn't operate the valve sufficiently to open it (lower the lift) then you can try adjusting the quadrant (lever). The procedure is described in some detail in the shop manual - basically you loosen the bolts on the base of the quadrant and move if forward/aft to adjust the range of motion on the linkage. Not sure why it would be out of adjustment suddenly if it was just recently working properly - I'd double check that it's properly positioned on the valve.

I had a similar problem, after discing all day, my hydraulics would not lift to get out of the field. Followed Dell's advise (only I used a stainless hose clamp) and it made a world of difference.

I would like to thank each one of you guys for your help. I went out this morning and found that the fork had come off the exhaust vale again so I put it back on and used a piece of wire around the fork and now it works like a charm. You guys are better than pockets on a shirt. Thanks again.
