9N Tires

The front tires on my 9N are severly cracked and have slow leaks. So it appears that I am going to have to get some new tires. The current front tires are the 3-rib ag tires. Anyone able/willing to educate me on tractor tires? In particular, I use the tractor for maintianing my gravel drive and clearing snow with a rear blade. Are there any better options than the current ag tires? Is there a specific procedure for jacking up the tractor that I should be aware of?

depending on either 19 inch or 16 inch. 19s you will have to buy new probably. 16s you can get used off cars at most tire shops. tires are cheap at TIRETOWN,com but freight today is pricey. 3 ribs steer better. your call.

Used 19" tires should be available at motorcycle shops.

Your tires should have tubes in them if they do not that is why you have leaks. Now if they have tubes like the need to have then you need to fix the tube or even new tires will not help. If yours are the 19 inch tires you can buy motorcycle tires like knobby's and they will work well in snow

Good luck. Most likely you will find that your rims are rusted out and ruined also. Seems that they hold water and rust out bad over time.

No special procedure for jacking it up,I usually jack it up under the center in front and put it on jack stands,otherwise when you take one side off it wants to lean.

Tom how far away are you from Gulfport??? My son should have flown in to there today from boot camp in great lakes (navy) of course. How the weather down there??

No matter what type of vehicle, I always break the lug nuts loose before jacking any weight off the tire. Once the tire is back on I always snug the lug nuts up fairly good with all weight off the tire and then let jack down and put all weight back on tire before final tightening. This is using a lug nut wrench not an air gun. On my tractors I chock both back wheels, front and back, and put jack in the middle of the front and jack up both sides. Don't remove a tire from the rim if you will be needing the tractor shortly. As others have stated your rims may be so bad that they will need to be replaced or substantial amount of work done to them before new tires can be installed.

If you don't need ag tires - look for some Model A Ford drivers. They probably have some used 19" tires. 1930 and 1931 Model A's used 4.50 x 19" tires. Most of us have some old tires laying around.
