9n tires

What was the purpose of those cute old-time looking narrow tires on 9ns?My 9n came with regular width car type tires.I am considering converting back to the original look.Would I be doing it mostly for looks,or is there an actual purpose for those narrow tires?

The 9N originally came with 4.00x19 1-rib that also drops into the plow furrow for eazier plowing. Modern 4.00x19 are usually tri-rib. Many find "used" 19" auto tires do NOT tear-up the pasture when brushhoggin' and they usually have steel-belts for thorn protection. ........Dell

Find a buddy that drives a 1930 or 1931 Model A Ford, he probably has some used 19" tires that he will give you - or sell them cheep.

check at your local farm & home store. Like orcshleins here in Perry Iowa had a pair on close out for $20 each.

A lot of people go to motorcycle shops and buy 19 inch tires for there fords you can get ones that are made to dig in or ones made for the road all depends on what type you want and if you worry about them cutting into the dirt
