a 9N age question

Hello all.
Last week big brother attends a sale and comes back the proud owner of a fixer upper 9N. He wanted to find out when it was made. The engine block number is 9N 287497. Can an age be established from that number ? I hope so, thanks in advance.

At a minimum, the block is from a 1940 9N. Report back what the casting codes are and we can help you positively identify the rest of the tractor.

At the front of the I&T F-04,1940 ends with #45976,the tractor in question#287497 falls into[after#258504--2n1947---lha

Not a 9n... 1947 2N, which is almost identical.
