A MH narrow front head scratcher

Here's a head scratcher for you. My 1946 101 Jr. has bolt-on spindles on the narrow front. I've never come across this on any other row crop examples. They all have the spindles just splined or press fit onto the steering shaft inside the bolster. Maybe a transition before the MH 30's? You ever come across these? Steve

Yikes. I havent had any experience with narrow front tractors of any kind here on the prairies but that doesnt look right to me. Maybe an after market narrow kit. ?????

Looks like the Farmall taper-bolt 4-bolt coupler for the transmission. Acts like sort of a flex joint. Has rubber bushings.
