I just took 'delivery' on a YM276D. (My first, other than a IH garden tractor) So far so good.
I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions in the future, but for now, I have 2.

The decal is gone indicating the shift pattern for the range gears. I can surely muddle through but if anyone can give me that info, I'd appreciate it.

And, unfortunately, it did not come with any of the manuals. I did download the Service Manual from ClassicManuals.net, but I was looking for a pdf of the Operation Manual. I Googled it...but no luck. Any suggestions?

BTW, the pictures in the ClassicManuals.com download are awful.

I really like the 276. Been looking for ahwile and would like to hear your feedback on it. Any chance you are in CT? it would be nice to know of someone local with this tractor.

I haven't found mine yet. I have looked at a 240 and two 276's. I am in Killingworth - near the shoreline. How bout you? Do you know of any 4wd Yanmars?

Silvertramp - thats great to hear. How long have you owned it? Any pictures...you can PM me with them.

In January there was a 187D with a backhoe out in W. Ma...not sure of the hours -the owner said 600 then 900, then 3000 then 2000. In any event I missed out on it. It sold for $4K.

do you know of any 4WD yanmars around that are for sale????

I bought it 4 years ago off craigslist with 875 hours/ factory loader. I t does more work than my MF 65 with 4 cyl. Perkins diesel. 4WD, 12 spd, & powershift make all the difference.
Bacon's in Williamsburg, MA. 413-268-3620 & Ahern in Spencer, MA. 508-885-7085 are Yanmar dealers and may be able to help you.
I'd try seaching Craigslist via Searchtempest.

Thanks for those dealers names. I am watching craigslist closely...I expect movement this Spring plus the tractor auctions will be starting up. I can't wait.....I think all of these tractors are pretty solid but is there anything in your opinion I should keep an eye out for on the 276?

hey scotty,
i am in central mass.
What do you plan on doing with the tractor and how much land do you have?
You should consider 4wd and a loader also.
There was a 2610d with loader and backhoe in the Hartford area aweek or so ago.
I called him about it...but i think it is a Vietnam refurb........I wanted to go bigger than my 1500d.

I only have three acres but I have a pretty large hill and at the bottom is a pond. I need a 4WD tractor with loader to move firewood, a dual axle trailer, I part out Jeeps from time to time and a tractor sure would help moving the carcasses around the property. It has to have a ROPS or have one available for it....and I knpw that will set me back $700 for a new one too. I have talked to Spaldings and Fredericks but just can't afford one of theirs so I am looking for a well maintained US model or maybe a Spalding or Fredericks that made its way up into the northeast that someone is selling. I see a lot of the VN ones for sale...but I am just leery of them....they never seem to have much history. I think I would rather a 1000 hour machine that I can look the previous owners in the eye and ask them about the history of the tractor versus someone who is selling their VN after 50 or 100 hours and do not know where it came from or what was actually refurb'd. I have a trailer so I can travel to go get one...I have been close a couple of times but some folks think their tractors are made out of gold LOL......I will find one.....I just wait - I am in no hurry. I have two SS12's that work and they so far have done what I have asked. Although I flipped one over once.....so I already know the value of a ROPS!!!!

Yes, on any grey-market tractor the provenance is blank, at least in terms of its history before importation. But the price is lower. As for a 30-year-old export model, typical non-commercial use is 100 hrs/year, so expecting to find one with 1000 hrs may not be realistic.

Having a ROPS is better than not because tractors are prone to tipping, but you don't need one if you operate it properly. And if you put the word out once you have the machine, eventually a similar one with a ROPS will come up for salvage. A loader is not so easy to install, so it's better if already on.

I have a 3220D in VT that came up from Fredrick's. They do their own trucking which can help with the freight cost.
