A Powerlift Serial Tag

A previous post concerning the age of my A led me to the serial tag on the Powerlift unit. My first impression was that it was not there. Further inspection leads me to think it is there, but the numbers don't match what I have been told.
The picture is of the tag. Any opinions?

From the picture it looks to me like it is a tag screwed to the pattern that was used to make the mold to cast the housing.

The tag would have been fastened on the top of the main powerlift housing. The part that actually covers the rear end.

That is the Powerlift unit...I have looked that thing over six ways to Sunday and that is the only tag I have found.

The man is right. The tag is on the top of the casting. Mine is definately a tag, not part of the casting, and appears to be aluminium.

Fair enough, but there is nothing else on that Powerlift unit. The tag may have come off, but then I am left with the question: What is the number that I am looking at? Would it be a casting date?

The tag in the photo is the casting date tag.
