Before my son's death, he had fabricated an adapter plate to bolt a 7.75" G block to an A case and would be running a huge G motor in an A. After his death I lost interest i n the project so it all sits here. But something like that could have been done with some ingenuity.

If you left the G block stock bore, or not bore it beyond the stock G casting, how much less would you have to cut on the A crankcase to fit the jugs inside the A? 6.125 bore, bigger than a stock power block with meat in the cyl walls! How much off center would the rods be leaving the A rod journal location stock, or would there be any need for worry?

Think about if that A . 7.75 bore G block, 70 all fuel head and 2 barrel carb, even add a little stroke! even with a stock G block it could be quite fun!! That would be one mean A JD. Chad

Man, I've got both, an A and a G and I'd hafta see this build-up to believe it possible. A G engine is quite a lot bigger than an A on the outside...they had to bulge the frame rails on the G's to get it's block inside them and still be able to mount the same implements on either tractor. I don't think you're gonna get a G block and/or head inside a A's frame...and then adapt it to the A's main case....whew, can you say "Mission Impossible"? Well, anything's possible.....I guess... Like I said I'd sure like to see it if it can be done, it'd be pretty exotic, that's for sure.

If I remember correctly, their rules say you can't have adapters to get the block on the crankcase. Which is why you have to use the A crankcase mounting (G block won't fit). There's nothing in the rules about modifying the frames. Using te G head is just a cheap way to gain flow. Like sticking an A carb on a B.

Thats what he had all figured out. Parts were all ordered or manufactured. He was putting a 9" crank into it. He had to cut the A frame and widen that out several inches. With side covers it was not all that noticeable. Remember, he had an adapter plate made to accept the G block to the A case, allowing for not much grinding on the case. It would have been over 849 cubes on an A...or would you call it a G...that was the biggest question we had here!

G sheet metal, aluminum wide front end with power steering, That would look prety neat! How hard would it be to put the G front end on it? Or a lite weight but kinda sorta stock in appearence to what a G would look like simular in construction. Chad

don't want to sound irrespectful or anything, but maybe you should finish his project and put a beautiful mirral(spelling) on it "in memory" and even if your not completly interested in pulling...keep it as a testiment to his thoughts. your son had some great knowledge...by reading his posts...so..neways..my prayers are with your family to cope with the loss...these things are never easy.

He had toyed with the idea of putting something like 2510 or 3020 sheetmetal on it, then also thought maybe 730. yes, he was shooting for 4000lbs. also a light weight front end, with a setup much like his A, dual pipes across from each other. It was all worked out except for his unexpected death.

With all of the upmost respect. This sounds like a fun project,something that is so unique!! Would that be Div. 5 legal? I say put G/70/730/730 sheetmetal and custom front end on it. Definetly would make a nice show piece in rememberance of him. Although I never met you or your son in person, I truly think you are very knowledgable and great people. You know he would love to have you finish what he had started in the project and to hear it go bang,bang and shake the ground.
