Any one use those cheapie vacumm pumps from Harbor Freight for Automotive AC systems.

Guy that I work with just bought one from hf for 70.$ Seemed to work ok.

I bought the $8 one last month. Haven't used it yet. It is hooked up to an/your air compressor to start pulling a vacuum and has a r12/r22 fitting and a r134a fitting. No guage so you need your own guage set.

Nope. I picked up a used Robinair off Craigslist for a hundred bucks. Works great.

yes i used one when i started out,they work fine if you have a big enough air tank,i have 60 gallon air tank..in a pinch we used it to vac down a home system 4 ton and we had to let the compression build up a few time but got it down to 29 vacume.been working fine for 10 years now.. thats an intersting story,we had a leak in a aluminum line on the condenser.I got a compression fitting from napa for a car ac and cut the line,put the dual compression fitting on,worked great.5 companies wouldnt fix the leak,wanted to put a new system in.I agree, a new system would have been better but alot of life left in the old one.
