Adjustable valve lifters

While trying to get the "wrenches"that are suppposed to be used to adjust the lifters, I found that by putting a drift punch in the oil hole in the block, it holds the lifers from turning. it was a very simple job to adjust the valves without using the "wrenches"

A previous owner most likely drilled those holes just for that purpose. You hear it suggested all the time.

Just wondering if anyone has the specs. or measurements for drilling said holes ? Tnx

The holes measure 3/16th. They are down abut 5/8-3/4 from the top of the casting. Looking closer, it appears they just drilled and didn';t measure. I tried to post a picture, but cannot figure out how to import it.

The hole location depends on the style lifter used... one style low and the other mid way,,, either hole location works but best fit to the indention in the side of the lifter are they will try and walk up while adjusting.
