Adjusting plow width on 4240 plow

I've got a 3 bottom 4240 plow that is currently set at a 16" cut and has 16" shares and moldboards. Can I reduce the cut to a 14" without changing the shares and moldboards? To me this doesnt seem right as the front bottom will cut a 16" wide furrow (due to the share width", but the other two bottoms will cut a reduced furrow. In other words, the front will throw more dirt over and plow uneven furrows?

After you make the adjustments to the plow from 16" to 14" cut per bottom, you then need to adjust the hitch.  Move the hitch on the front cross bar so that the furrow wheel on the plow runs further away from the old furrow wall than it did on the 16" setup.  The rolling coulter on the front bottom should be running 14" from the old furrow wall.
