Air Cleaner

801 Diesel with the oil bath air filter mounted on side of hood.

I give up.
I need a new air cleaner.
Pre cleaner bowl is broken.
Leaks oil while engine is running.
If I leave it outside the cup gets full of water.
It looks cobbled together or bent brackets making it hard to get oil cup on and off.
Wire mesh is old and dirty needs replacing or cleaning.
I'm just fed up with this thing after years of fighting it.

Problem is I can not find a new one and it looks like the one off the 2000 4000 3 cyl tractors that you can buy new will not fit.
Throw me a bone guys. Give me some ideas.

There are 3 common sizes of Donaldson precleaner bowls, yours is the smallest. Why not just buy one and keep the water out? The oil bath units can be cleaned with a pressure washer, solvent or disassembly.

Slip a K&N over the intake where that rubber connector is. Don't forget the aerosol oil with it.

John, I have this same set up on an 881 that I'm working on, had a parts supplier order one it is donaldson USA made nice too much plastic for my way of thinking, but big improvement over your current look. part number on box of mine is h002040 might be sold on this site too. Good Luck.

A K & N on a tractor that works in extremely dirty conditions??? Not me!

Now let's see here, when did the oil bath air filters get eliminated in favor of the paper filters? maybe 70 years ago?

i see you have the door in the hood for a standard oil bath. why don't you just get a new unit from this site and install under the hood?

Thanks for the part number cskent.
I realize I can buy the pre cleaner but that does nothing for the leaking oil cup.
I have replaced the cup band in the past and that did no good.

I was hoping to find a way to adapt a 3 cylinder cleaner on here since they are available new.
Guess I will just take this one off and see what I can do to fix it.

None of 'em were eliminated by K&N

Same displacement, same rpm, same flow requirement. That element is used on many Ford diesel applications.

It seemed to me like there is supposed to be a seal on the oil pan. I was thinking about finding a large thin oring to put in there. Too bad someone doesn't make a snapon cover for when you leave them outside sometimes.
