Air Compressor Flywheel needed.

Where can I get a 10 inch flywheel that will fit a one inch shaft?

Theirs is for a 3/4" shaft. Page 1030 in the new catalog.

Anywhere else I can look I googled it and keep coming up with 5/8 and 3/4 shafts but not for one inch...

You can get a 10 inch Browning sheave and a 1 inch reducing bushing for it. This will not be a "flywheel", but it will do the job.

Now can you put that into English for me?
Don't know much about this Browning sheave. Is it as heavy as a cast flywheel? Appreciate any help you can offer. This old compressor may just yet be in my shop. mud

The Browning sheave (brand name for an industrial strength cast-iron pulley) is a great idea. However, the price of a new one will scare you.

To get some idea of prices, go the the Grainger or McMaster websites.

You mught try looking at surpluscenter.com.

They have air compressor stuff AND drive pulley stuff.

What Bob said. In the same Grainger catalog, go to the Motors and Power Transmission section and look for sheaves and split taper bushings. You'll get the picture. BTW, you don't say what size belt you are using - there'll be a difference in price. Again, this will not quite be a flywheel. The spokes are straight, not "turned" in a fan style to blow air across the pump. But personally, I've always found the fan function of a flywheel useless. Good luck.

You might just try a local compressor shop, since leftover flywheels were constantly underfoot when I was working on them, left over from scrapped machines to far gone to rebuild.

The compressor was given to me so I don't mind putting a little into it.

I have a flywheel sheave from a small compressor laying here in the garage. It is 10" in diameter with a single sheave groove. It has a 3/4 inch shaft hole with a keyway. The boss is big enough to be drilled out to 1" easily. You can have it for the shipping if you want to go that route.
