drove by a place with what appears to be an allis 160 for sale. Looked pretty rough paint not good and unknown mechanical shape. Wondering if these were good little rigs or anything i should look for when I call and check it out. Also whats a ballpark figure I should expect from a private party. Thanks guys.

A 160 can be a good tractor. There are a few things to check. The Power steering and the clutches are where to start. Brakes were never much to write home about either. Parts are hard to find for these three areas.
The 160 was built for Allis by Renault and imported. Pretty good 40HP tractor if its in fair shape.
That all said I like my 160 a lot.

I have one, very good tractor. 160's with out loaders in ready to go shape with good rubber average around $3500.00, rough and needing work subtract from there.

Owned a 160 years ago. Very efficient 3cyl Perkins as I recall. Was a great little haying tractor. I tried pulling a 3pt 3 bottom 16" plow with it once and that was too much plow. Was a rather trouble free tractor doing what it was designed for Sold it to a fella who put a loader on it... tore the clutch out of it rather quickly as I recall... but then maybe he just didn't know how to use a dry clutch loader tractor. I wouldn't pay much over 5K for one today... might have a parts problem as they didn't import that many and dealing with AGCO is sometimes a chore.

i purchased a one-sixty ac, about 6mo ago, pd $6k. however it is in vgc condition. only problem is fuel gague& hour meter not working. does'nt have power steering but turns like it does. new tires all around. runs smooth,no leaks. hope this helps.
