Allis carburetor

Alright fellers.... Lets say that you needed (or just wanted) to buy a brand-new shiny carburetor for a D-17 , Wd , wc pulling tractor... What would you buy? Where would you get it from? How much would it cost? But most importantly , how well do you think it would perform compared to a stock carb? Oh yeah it has to be an up_draft carb. I'm looking for a fresh idea that nobody has done yet.

It keeps running out of gas halfway down the track. I tried adjusting floats, changed to a bigger gas line adjusted everything. Justcant get it right.

why don't you drill out the seat.

If I rember correctly in those carb kits there's common size holes used for the seat. .080 and .110 Though I would have to look in my parts kit to be sure of the sizes.

I've got extras around if you want I can mail you one sometime. I had drilled mine out to solve the problem on my "stock" engine.

Be sure to drill a small countersink or chamifer on the feed or back side of the seat when you do it. For example Holley carb jets may be the same size hole or orfice, but the inlet and outlet to the orfice in the jet is shaped differently, that is why a few different jets can have the same size orfice but have different flow rateings.

If the seat is not the problem, than we need to look at the main load jet. But you make it sound like it runs at full load for a bit and then sucks the bowl dry.

I don't know what your engine is or what is done to it, but I may have a good carb around for you around here. I had flow tested a few different carbs one time and the stock allis one was just shy of 100 cfm, I sold a fella one from an IH combine that was a good upgrade for a stock engine. I used one from a Moline with some modifications on one of my engines. With some modifications to the Moline carb, a different venturi and some trick work, it's about double the flow of the original Allis and Gleaner E combine and passes a visual inspection to be "as correct" for the tractor.

There's some Ford tractor applications that have good cantidates to start with also, as well as some IH combine ones to keep that original appearance. But it's going to depend a little on what your engine is and what you have had done to it. At my local salvage yard, most of these cores are $50-75, maybe high, maybe a bargin, but being able to go pick one out and do a little measureing and testing is worth a lot.

check tank? fuel flow good out of gas line? float may have a hole in it and b to heavy or just not adjusted right or may have trash in the carb. I saw u pull at devner at killian farm. Sounded like it had no fuel to me. If carb is clean and all holes open I would think bad float or poor fuel flow is the problem. You have a tsx464 carb wright? should be plenty of carb 4 you.

I need to check the float for a pinhole . The inside of the carb is shiny new lookin. The gas tank also looks like a new one on the inside. I'm not sure of the model number of the carb but it's the same as on your wd-45. Did you see what I was sayin about the way those guys aint balancing right in the 3500-3700# classes?

Send the one that you have to Steve at B&B Custom Circuits. He worked over a MS 464 for me that works great on my WC puller. Kip

Remove feed jet in bottom of your fuel bowel will not let enough fuel run to suction tube if this is to much then drill jet out with # drills start out to sizes up from stock go intill it will blow black smoke and you can turn it in to lean it down,Barney.
